November 25, 2024NATO is discussing the possibility of delivering preventive “precision strikes” on Russian territory in the event of an armed conflict with the alliance’s member countries.
This was stated by the chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, at a conference in Brussels.
He described the fact that NATO has changed its attitude toward its nature as a defensive alliance as a positive development. Additionally, he noted that the perception of the need to “sit and wait until we are attacked” before reacting has also shifted.
“It is wiser not to wait, but to target launchers in Russia if Russia attacks us. A combination of precision strikes is needed to disable the systems used to attack us, and we must deliver the first blow,” said the committee head.
According to Bauer, NATO should now replenish its depleted weapons stockpiles and invest in air defense systems and precision strike capabilities.
Earlier, the German magazine *Bild* published a U.S.-modeled scenario of a Russian attack on the Baltic states.
