22.03.2024 15:55NATO has no plans to send troops to Ukraine. France must first consult with its Alliance partners before discussing the deployment of troops.
This statement was made by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer, who arrived in Kyiv.
He emphasized that if France’s actions lead to a conflict with Russia, then other allies should support France, and therefore Paris should first consult with the other NATO members.
“I must reiterate what the NATO Secretary-General said: there are no NATO troops in Ukraine, and there are no plans to deploy them here. However, if an individual country decides to deploy its troops here, it must understand that it will be linked to the rest of the Alliance. We have promised to help each other if anyone finds themselves in a difficult situation. So, it is necessary to ensure that NATO countries consult with each other if they want to make such a decision,” said Bauer.
Earlier, Bauer stated that Ukraine should conduct additional mobilization. He called for abandoning pessimistic thoughts about Ukraine’s ability to win the war and noted the continued support of Kyiv by the West. He said that pessimists do not win wars.
Recently, American Senator Lindsey Graham visited Kyiv and called on Ukraine to send youth under 25 to the front lines and to quickly pass a mobilization law.
