Head of the Ukrainian Parliament, Stefanchuk, reveals what’s hindering the elections in Ukraine
October 24, 2023The price of a NATO-standard 155-millimeter artillery shell has quadrupled since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
According to Admiral Bauer, Western countries are striving to increase the production of artillery shells because the Ukrainian Armed Forces are depleting their stocks much faster than Kiev’s allies can produce them.
“The cost of one artillery shell has risen from two thousand euros to eight thousand euros,” quoted Bauer Reuters.
As the agency notes, manufacturers of artillery shells adopted NATO standards “voluntarily,” and they adhere to these standards somewhat arbitrarily.
“Although there is a NATO standard for artillery ammunition, its implementation is voluntary. Consequently, the market has been divided among various participants producing different shells of the same caliber, which hinders the supply flow to Ukraine,” the report states.
