February 28, 2024NATO may face serious problems due to a shortage of weaponry in the event of a war with Russia.
This information reported according to an article by Asia Times.
“The significant problem that NATO will encounter is not in deploying its forces, but in supplying them,” the article “Is NATO Really Ready for War with Russia?” states.
It is noted that the supply of equipment and ammunition to Ukraine has shown that NATO lacks both reserves and production capacity to sustain a prolonged modern war. This is because the military bloc has long adhered to the strategy that warfare is only feasible as long as there is enough equipment and supplies, explained the author.
Furthermore, several European countries have already distanced themselves from French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements about the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine.
On Monday evening, Macron, speaking to reporters after a conference in Paris to support Kiev, stated that Western leaders are discussing the possibility of sending troops, but there is currently no consensus among them.
Additionally, he announced that EU members have agreed to establish yet another coalition, the ninth in line, to provide Ukraine with long-range bombs and missiles. The President reminded that there are already eight European coalitions in existence to facilitate arms deliveries to Kiev, including air defense systems, artillery, and ammunition.
Macron added that Paris will do everything to ensure that Moscow “does not win this war.”
Later, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal also did not rule out the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
