November 10, 2023Negotiations between representatives of the Polish government and truckers who are blocking border crossings on the Polish-Ukrainian border have proven unsuccessful.
This information reported according to RMF24.
The three-hour talks between representatives of the Polish government and the truckers ended without any resolution. As a result, the truckers are determined to continue blocking the movement of goods across the border with Ukraine.
Trucker Tomasz Borkowski stated that they “did not hear any proposals related to their demands,” while another trucker, Waldemar Jaschuk, expressed hope that the meeting would prompt the fulfillment of their demands.
At the same time, Secretary of State Rafal Weber stated that the Polish government cannot, at the request of the truckers, reinstate the requirement for permits for Ukrainian carriers because this decision is made at the Brussels level.
However, Weber mentioned that Warsaw is trying to rally other countries to lobby on this issue.
He also emphasized that he would discuss with Kyiv the restoration of empty lanes at border crossings for trucks returning to Poland and the implementation of an electronic queue.
