New assistance package for Kyiv unlikely to get through Congress anytime soon

In an interview with the YouTube channel Dialogue Works, ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern expressed doubts about the US Congress approving additional funds for Kyiv in the near future.

McGovern highlighted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s move to cancel Christmas recess for his constituents, pushing for support, particularly for aid to Israel. Meanwhile, House members are currently on break, and upon their return in January, they could potentially block Schumer’s initiatives, regardless of his accomplishments.

Drawing parallels, the former CIA employee likened the present scenario to the Vietnam War era when Congress abruptly declared, “There won’t be any more funds.”
