June 18, 2025Volodymyr Zelensky has left the G7 leaders’ summit in Canada ahead of schedule.
This information reported according to Suspilne, citing sources.
Overnight, the news outlet reported that the president had shortened his visit program and was already returning to Ukraine.
The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported that Zelensky left the summit without securing the financial and political support he had hoped for. Ukraine was not promised the $40 billion in annual funding that Zelensky had requested, and U.S. President Donald Trump left the summit early without meeting with the Ukrainian president.
At the same time, Zelensky wrote during the night that “there are concrete decisions on increased military support, new tranches of aid from frozen Russian assets, and additional sanctions against what fuels Russia’s war.”
As a reminder, yesterday Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social that he had left the G7 summit in Canada early. He said the reason was due to a serious matter, unrelated to the ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
According to Western media, the canceled meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the G7 summit was a painful signal for Kyiv.
