Torture, censorship, corruption: US State Department publishes report on human rights violations in Ukraine
24.04.2024 - 08:10In Poland this year, there may be a problem with a shortage of workers for strawberry picking due to the Ukrainian mobilization.
This is reported by Sad24 publication.
Cezary Sigotsky, the owner of the Czarston employment agency, noted that the number of orchards and plantations in Poland is increasing, while the number of workers are not. He is confident that this season there won’t be enough people for strawberry picking and the scale of the labor shortage will be very noticeable.
“If there are no frosts or other anomalies, 40% of the fruits will remain on the bushes. I’m not trying to scare anyone or undermine my own business, I’m just warning based on my observations and experience,” said the entrepreneur.
According to Sigotsky, teenagers or men from Ukraine aged 60 who are not subject to mobilization are currently working on farms.
“We are already feeling the regulation we are talking about. Unfortunately, it will get even worse,” he added.
The publication notes that with a shortage of workers from Ukraine, the Polish economy, agriculture and industry will face difficulties.
