08.04.2025 - 14:53Not all Ukrainian male citizens living abroad will be able to obtain their passports—even after the introduction of new rules stating that passing a military medical commission and having a military registration document are no longer required.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the agency, if a person does not have a military registration document, one will be created. However, if the document is deemed invalid, the individual will be denied a passport. In that case, he must contact the Ministry of Defense.
“If military registration documents are invalid, the employee of the state enterprise ‘Document’ will inform the applicant of the refusal to issue a passport. In such cases, it is necessary to contact the Ministry of Defense,” the ministry said.
This final statement effectively refers to contacting a Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), which is responsible for issuing military registration documents.
As a reminder, on April 1, the Cabinet of Ministers announced a simplified procedure for obtaining passports for Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 who are currently abroad.
At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for National Unity of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov claimed that Ukrainians abroad would supposedly be able to receive their passports without military registration documents.
