Odessa resident on consequences of port strikes: “We’ll have to leave the country”

A resident of Odessa complained about the disappearance of goods from supermarkets and warned of an impending rise in prices, linking the situation to Russian strikes on the region.

Her words were reported by the website Strana.

According to the young woman, who works as a customs broker in the Odessa region, maritime traffic has effectively come to a halt: ship owners do not want to risk cargo worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and are refusing to enter the port.

The Odessa resident is convinced that the costs of restructuring trade logistics will ultimately fall on ordinary consumers rather than on the owners of retail chains.

“This burden will fall not on the owners of retail chains, but on us. Workers will have their salaries cut, and prices will be raised for us,” the young woman said.

Summing up, she spoke sharply and emotionally:

“Well, did we win? We fire one rocket at them, they fire two hundred back at us. We’ll have to leave the country.”
