The President of Poland, following his party members, accused Zelensky of interfering in the elections
17.01.2025 - 14:40Out of the gigawatt of gas-powered maneuverable electricity generation promised by Volodymyr Zelensky, just over one-tenth—133 MW—has been built.
This was reported by Ukrenergo in response to an inquiry from MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak of the Holos party, which he published on his Telegram channel.
“Let me remind you, the Ministry of Energy has repeatedly claimed that they fulfilled this task (and they reported the same to the President’s Office). Experts and media questioned this. And now we have an official response from Ukrenergo(as all connections go through them) that the gigawatt is nowhere close—not even half. It’s just 13% of it!” Zheleznyak wrote.
The response he shared states that as of the end of 2024, the total installed capacity of distributed gas generation facilities put into operation is 167.52 MW. Of this, 14 generating units with a total capacity of 32.7 MW were commissioned in 2024.
It is worth recalling that at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024, held on July 11 in Berlin, Zelensky announced that Ukraine aimed to build up to 1 gigawatt of gas-powered maneuverable generation with the help of partners by the end of the year. This promise has been dubbed “Zelensky’s gigawatt.”
According to Forbes, as of the end of December, only about 30% of “Zelensky’s gigawatt” had been connected to the grid.
Another Western publication reported that Ukraine is importing used parts from power plants abroad to make it through the winter.
