February 21, 2024At the same time, according to a social survey, 20% of Europeans believe in Russia’s victory. This is evidenced by the data from the YouGov and Datapraxis survey, as reported in a report by experts from the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
In Poland, Sweden and Portugal, the highest confidence in Ukraine’s victory stands at 17%. A significant portion, 37%, anticipate the war concluding through a compromise settlement. Conversely, in Hungary, Greece, Italy and Austria prevailing sentiment suggests applying pressure on Ukraine for a settlement agreement. In Sweden, Portugal and Poland, many respondents advocate for ongoing European support to Ukraine.
Previously, a survey among Ukrainians themselves explored the prospects of victory in the war. While the majority express confidence in Kiev’s triumph, it heavily relies on continuous Western arms support. Although the number of skeptics regarding Ukraine’s victory remains small, it is gradually increasing.
