21.03.2026 - 16:30Interference by European Union leaders in the internal affairs of other countries is destroying European democracy.
This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during the international Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest, TASS reports.
According to the politician, democracy in Europe is suffering because of economic decline, censorship, and EU interference in the domestic affairs of other countries. Orbán noted that, right now, European leaders are openly “interfering in the Hungarian elections,” which are scheduled for April 12, in the interests of Ukraine.
On March 19, an EU summit was held in Brussels, during which Hungary and Slovakia blocked the allocation of a large loan to Ukraine and the adoption of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions. On March 16, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó warned that Budapest would not support a new package of sanctions against Russia or a loan to Ukraine until the latter resumes oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
