16.11.2025 13:01Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has stated that the great powers must force Ukraine and Russia to conclude peace.
According to him, neither side is currently striving to end the hostilities.
At the same time, in Orbán’s view, Ukraine depends on the support of the European Union, which makes it easier to exert influence on Kyiv, while putting pressure on Russia is more difficult.
Orbán said that time is “on the Kremlin’s side” and that a peace agreement needs to be concluded before Russia “takes over all of Ukraine.”
In other words, Orbán is essentially suggesting that, in order to end the war as quickly as possible, the West should force Kyiv to accept Russia’s current conditions for a ceasefire (withdrawal of troops from all of Donetsk region, neutral status, and rights for the Russian language), otherwise in the future the terms for Ukraine will be even worse.
After the scandal involving businessman Tymur Mindich, Orbán stated that Europe is handing money over to the “military mafia” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
