The European Union has “no strength” to support Ukraine and secure favorable conditions for ending the war, – The Times
11.08.2025 - 09:03Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called on the European Union (EU) to support U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace efforts on Ukraine during his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
He wrote this on his Facebook page.
“War or peace? Trump wants peace, which is why he is meeting with Putin next Friday,” he noted.
According to Orbán, European leaders “undermined peace, but now they can restore it.” He stressed that to do so, they need to support the American president.
Earlier, Orbán stated that after the personal meeting between Putin and Trump, it would be necessary to organize a summit between Russia and the leading EU countries.
In response to his proposal, State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa said this was possible, but would depend on the intentions of the Europeans and whether they would make further attempts to continue the conflict in Ukraine.
