“People are simply tired of it”: Poland states that Ukrainians are exhausted by the war

Ukrainians are tired of the war, and Russians are “surprisingly” quick in capturing Ukrainian territory.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated during an interview on Poland’s private radio station, Radio Zet.

“In a few weeks, the situation has changed and become much worse. The Russians have significantly accelerated their offensive, reclaiming large areas, including in the Kursk region that the Ukrainians had taken, and are advancing daily. In one month, they’ve captured more territory than in the entirety of 2023. They have crossed a barrier, capturing territory in an unusual and extraordinarily rapid manner,” the Polish minister noted.

He also observed a “massive fatigue with the war” in Ukraine.

“People are simply tired on a human level: both the civilians and those on the front lines. Fewer people are involved in preparing for war, and fewer are joining the army,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

He agreed with the host’s remark that an increasing number of soldiers are deserting from the army.

Previously, media reports suggested that exhaustion and the depletion of all resources are often reasons for unauthorized absences and desertions within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
