17.09.2026 12:35The Kremlin has characterized the passage of the “hellish sanctions” bill by the US House of Representatives as “unfriendly actions” and warned that the new restrictions will complicate efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
The statement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a briefing with journalists.
According to Peskov, Moscow is monitoring the bill’s progress.
“We are, of course, watching the passage of this document. This falls under unfriendly actions, and, of course, the introduction of any additional sanctions by the United States will definitely complicate efforts to find a peaceful settlement in Ukraine,” he said.
The law provides for a significant expansion of sanctions pressure on Russia. In particular, it extends restrictions to Russia’s military leadership, financial and energy sectors, foreign suppliers, and vessels of Russia’s shadow fleet. In addition, the document tightens export controls on goods that Moscow could use for weapons production.
A separate provision of the law grants the US president the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on goods from countries that purchase Russian energy resources.
The document has been sent to US President Donald Trump for signature.
