10.06.2024 09:19Photographs have emerged of elderly recruits from the 43rd Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region. The images primarily feature individuals much older than 50, appearing to be of pre-retirement age.
These photos were published by the Turkish agency Anadolu.
“Ukrainian soldiers of the 43rd Infantry Brigade continue their training in the Kharkiv region. Soldiers are being trained in handling weapons, trenches, and tanks,” reads the description under the photos taken by Jose Colon.

In the winter, the British publication The Sunday Times reported that the average age of Ukrainian soldiers on the front line is 43 years. Those who volunteered to fight at the beginning of the war are now “morally and physically exhausted, and there are not enough younger fighters to replace them.”
In May, Bloomberg also noted that the average age of Ukrainian military personnel on the front line is between 43 and 45 years.
