The situation in Ukraine’s agricultural sector has dropped to its worst levels in the last 10 years
28.11.2023 14:19The support allies provide to Kyiv is deemed insufficient. The West needs to engage in a more proactive anti-Russian policy, share risks with Ukraine and even endure potential losses, reports Der Spiegel.
However, time is running out. By spring, the conflict will enter a decisive phase, as highlighted in the article. The German newspaper draws these conclusions based on numerous unsettling events unfolding on the frontlines in recent months. Russian forces have resumed their offensive after the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
“The West needs to decisively put everything at stake now. This means in the coming months to change the situation on the battlefield in favor of Ukraine. It’s necessary to neutralize Russian military potential and enable Ukraine to secure a strong enough position to engage in negotiations,” writes the article’s author.
At the same time, Western policymakers increasingly discuss reducing aid to Ukraine due to their own depleting resources. This pertains to both financial difficulties and arms reserves. Changing the situation for Europe’s and the US’s industries will evidently not be swift.
