17.09.2026 08:31Poland will install electronic protection systems along approximately 112 kilometers of its border with Ukraine, funded by the European Union.
This was announced by the country’s Border Guard Service.
The project involves installing monitoring equipment and motion detectors to supplement existing physical barriers. The work is divided into two sections: approximately 69 kilometers will be equipped in the area of responsibility of the Nadbużański division of the Border Guard Service, and another roughly 43 kilometers in the section covered by the Bieszczady division.
The border with Belarus and Russia will also receive additional reinforcement: observation towers with optoelectronic systems are planned for installation there. On the Belarusian section, drone detection systems will additionally be deployed.
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz previously stated that the country is deploying army units along the border with Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, for its part, has introduced a special border regime on land plots one kilometer wide along the state border line with Russia and Belarus.
