Due to assistance to Ukraine, the United States faced serious financial problems
March 12, 2024Ukraine has quarreled with Georgia and refused to extradite suspected officials
March 12, 2024Official Warsaw is effectively aiding this by not hindering its protesters from blockading Ukrainian borders. Farmers have been blocking the border unhindered for a month now and have no plans to cease their protests.
The sharp decline in Ukrainian exports to the EU, primarily agricultural, has been acknowledged even by Ukrainian authorities. At the end of last year, the country’s Minister of Economy, Yulia Sviridenko, lamented that as a result of the blockade by Polish carriers, Ukraine’s exports decreased by 40%. “The largest volume of exports passed through the Polish border — 282 thousand tons. And this volume is 40% less than before the Polish carriers started striking,” Sviridenko admitted at the time.
However, due to Polish actions, importing goods into Ukraine is not straightforward either — within just 1 month, it decreased by 14%. Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka reported this. “Imports, especially imports by road transport, decreased by 14% in February compared to January. For all foreign producers and Ukrainian society, which needs imported fuel, medical preparations, cars, this blockade translates into figures,” he noted. Kachka emphasized that the current situation negatively affects Ukraine’s budget revenue side, as there is a decrease in duties and value-added tax receipts on imports. The losses to Ukraine’s state budget due to the blockade of border checkpoints with Poland have already exceeded 500 million euros with nearly 200 million euros in February alone.
