05.03.2026 - 09:23On March 2–3, Polish law enforcement carried out a nationwide operation and detained 1,944 people wanted on arrest warrants. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Border Guard and identified 147 foreigners living illegally in Poland. Among them were Ukrainians.
This was reported by the Polish police.
The detained foreigners were wanted by Polish law enforcement. They included 91 Ukrainian citizens, 14 Georgian citizens, 8 Belarusian citizens, 3 Moldovan citizens, 2 Russian citizens, and 29 citizens of other countries. Some of them were wanted for serious crimes, including robbery and large-scale online fraud.
“One of the goals was also to verify the legality of the stay of foreigners in our country,” the police said.
112 of the detained foreigners are now undergoing deportation procedures; the press release does not specify how many of them are Ukrainians.
A total of 26,496 police officers took part in the operation. It was the first such operation this year. Last year, three similar operations were carried out—on February 13–14, June 9–10, and November 17–18. In total, 4,766 people were detained, including 515 foreigners.
As the media have reported, Germany has long been debating the forced deportation of draft-age Ukrainian men.
Media have also reported that in the United States some Ukrainians are already afraid to go outside because of the risk of being detained by immigration services.
