Rating group poll: 50% of Ukrainians say peace matters more than victory, 83% support negotiations with Russia
08.10.2026 15:05Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyansky, stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s threats against Russia are groundless.
He made the statement during a session of the OSCE Permanent Council.
“He [Zelensky] does not stop his provocations against Russia and is trying at any cost to escalate the situation and drag Europe and NATO into a direct conflict with our country,” Polyansky stressed.
According to the Russian diplomat, Ukraine no longer has surface-to-air interceptor missiles, which have become scarce on global arms markets, the country has been virtually stripped of its industry and infrastructure, and on the eve of winter it is on the brink of complete energy and transport collapse.
Polyansky also stated that Zelensky “doesn’t care about his own citizens — all he cares about is how much more money the corrupt system he created can pump out of the country.”
Earlier, in an interview with Reuters, Zelensky said he had ordered the Ukrainian Armed Forces to double their attempts to attack Russian oil refineries. In response, Russia’s Ministry of Defense warned of intensified strikes against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and related infrastructure.
The mayor of Kyiv, for his part, declared that peaceful life in the city was over.
