Ukraine’s population nearing critical lows of 26 million
November 14, 2023Nearly 40% of the 5.8 million Ukrainian refugees in Europe during the one-and-a-half years of war have returned home at least once.
The New York Times reported this, citing data from a UN survey.
The publication notes that this rate is significantly higher than during previous European conflicts, such as the Second World War. People often return to visit relatives, but also frequently for routine medical appointments.
Many Ukrainian refugees have been disappointed with the European healthcare system, especially in Britain: in the United Kingdom, patients wait for weeks to see doctors but still don’t receive effective treatment. Therefore, at times, going back to Ukraine turns out to be even quicker.
Additionally, visits to doctors are complicated by high prices and language barriers.
