10.07.2024 - 17:32Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping believe that new peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will take place by the end of the year.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also mentioned that he discussed possible scenarios for the conflict’s development with the Chinese leader after the U.S. presidential elections. According to Orban, the new head of the White House will be expected to achieve a “quick political result even before taking office.”
“A ceasefire preceding peace talks, as well as rapid and intense peace negotiations, may be of interest to the new administration,” Orban believes. However, Xi Jinping “did not comment on the possibility of such a scenario,” Orban assured.
On July 5, Orban visited Moscow, where he discussed with Putin possible ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and initiate peace talks. On July 2, the Hungarian Prime Minister visited Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On July 8, Orban met with Xi Jinping and exchanged views on the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
