March 13, 2024Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the discussed deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine.
He stated that Western military personnel have been present in Ukraine throughout the war and if they are legalized, “it will not change the situation on the battlefield.”
“Currently, they are present and directly, as advisors, they are present as foreign mercenaries and suffer losses. But if we are talking about official military contingents of foreign states, I am sure that this will not change the situation on the battlefield,” said the Russian president.
He also separately commented on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that there should be no “red lines” regarding Russia.
“As for those states that say they have no red lines in relation to Russia, then they should understand that there will be no red lines in relation to these states in Russia either,” Putin said.
He also suggested that if Polish troops were to enter Ukraine, they would “never leave.”
“If, for example, Polish troops enter the territory of Ukraine to, as it sounds, cover the Ukrainian-Belarusian, let’s say, border or in some other places, in order to release Ukrainian military units for participation in combat actions on the contact line, then I think that Polish troops will never leave from there,” Putin said.
US troops, if they appear in Ukraine, will be considered “interveners” by Moscow.
“The US announced that they do not intend to deploy troops. We know what American troops on Russian territory are, they are interveners. We will treat them as such, even if they appear on the territory of Ukraine. They understand this,” said the Russian president.
