09.03.2026 - 08:01The West is now “reaping in Ukraine what it has sown.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Putin said the crisis in Ukraine arose because of a coup that, in his words, was supported by the West.
“That’s where it all began, that’s where it all started,” he said.
“These aren’t actions of ours—these are the actions of Western countries, including European countries. Today they are reaping what they sowed,” Putin said.
Earlier, Putin said the conflict in Ukraine is a tragedy for the Ukrainian people linked to what he called the criminal policy of a “thieving junta” that seized power in Kyiv. He claimed Kyiv’s authorities do not spare ordinary Ukrainian soldiers. He also said Russia tried to build relations between Ukraine and the DPR and LPR, but that Kyiv did not accept those attempts.
