December 11, 2023Congressman Gaetz urges US Authorities to persuade Zelensky for peaceful negotiations
December 11, 2023Senator James Risch, a Republican, stated that the United States “needs to recognize” that Ukraine will have to cede territory to Russia.
He made this remark during an appearance on CNN.
“It is in America’s interest to recognize that Ukraine will have to cede some territory to the Russians, and we need to put an end to this war. Regarding the Ukrainian issue: everyone with a head on their shoulders knows that this will end in negotiations. The idea that Ukraine will return Russia to its 1991 borders was absurd; no one actually believed in that,” the Republican senator said.
The Republican Party in the US is currently blocking the provision of aid to Ukraine in Congress, demanding that measures to strengthen the American border with Mexico be included in the bill.
Earlier, during Republican debates, disputes continued over Ukraine. For instance, billionaire Vivek Ramaswami asked former US representative to the UN Nikki Haley to name three areas in Eastern Ukraine that need to be protected from Russia. Haley, who advocates for continuing the war and supplying weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, could not answer the question.
Meanwhile, American Democrats fear that Congress will end its year-long session without reaching a decision on aid to Ukraine.
Recently, the White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, stated that the US has only a few weeks left before aid resources to Ukraine will be depleted. According to him, the States are unable to provide any guarantees to Ukraine regarding further assistance in light of Congress’s position.
