Restrictions for draft dodgers in driving may remain

Some prohibitions and forms of punishment for those who refuse to go to war for Ukraine will remain in the new draft law on strengthening mobilization. Earlier, several norms regarding penalties were excluded during discussions in parliament. This was announced by People’s Deputy Alexander Fedienko.

“If you evade mobilization, TRC will enter you into the relevant information database as a draft dodger. This will be visible, for example, to police officers who will check your driver’s license. Further possible administrative actions include restrictions on driving,” he said.

It is worth noting that according to the new draft law, which has been under discussion for the third month, they wanted to restrict men’s bank accounts, driving privileges and impose huge fines. All these norms were removed after a barrage of criticism from society, but otherwise, it will not be possible to compel people to go to war. Therefore, the authorities of Ukraine are considering leaving some forms of punishment or coming up with alternatives.
