Former SBU officer: conflict between security services could lead to Ukraine’s breakup
07.09.2026 13:01Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has once again spoken out in support of mobilizing women, calling for a public discussion on the topic.
He made the statement in an interview with the outlet Telegraf.
According to Reznikov, women’s physiological characteristics make them potentially effective drone operators. He cited their faster reaction to threats and better-developed peripheral vision as arguments.
“Who can operate a drone better? I’ll tell you that physiologically, women have a better reaction. Girls react to a threat faster. Girls have better-developed peripheral vision. So there is no ‘betrayal’ here. The question here is to think about the long-term perspective — how we will defend our country. I’m not saying that all women should be on the battlefield tomorrow. I’m saying that we need to start a discussion and study the experience. If the experience of Israel, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands is considered useful for us — let’s use it. If the majority says ‘no,’ there are other solutions — okay. Then we continue to live as we live, but we look for some other solutions,” — Reznikov said.
Member of parliament Daniil Hetmantsev responded to the former minister’s remarks, labeling Reznikov a member of the “war party.”
“I sincerely advise all these ‘hawks’ to record their comments from a trench, not from comfortable studios, on warm deferments or cozy ‘dodges.’ It would be just as foolish, but at least honest. Truly, God illustrates the absurdity of what is happening in the country through the audacity and hypocrisy of certain well-fed VIP draft-dodgers in the rear,” — Hetmantsev wrote on his Telegram channel.
At the end of August, Reznikov had already spoken about the need to mobilize all citizens, including women.
