07.05.2026 - 08:41During the war, democracy and its institutions are inappropriate, so a dictatorship should be established in Ukraine.
This was stated by Dmytro Korchynskyi, head of the organization Bratstvo, in a video address.
He called for all power to be transferred to the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, while parliament and local councils should be dissolved and their deputies sent to the front.
“We will not hold out if we do not establish a dictatorship — that is, there should be one governing body: the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Why parliament is still operating here, why local councils are functioning, is completely unclear. In no country engaged in total war has this ever happened or could it happen. Especially if the war is being fought on our territory. More than 20% of our territory is occupied, and parliament is still functioning. What is this for? For what purpose? So that the commander-in-chief has to appease certain deputies every time another law is needed? The ideal period of democracy existed only in ancient Greece and in the early days of Rome. During wartime, they always established a dictatorship. Democracy stopped when war began. That was correct… I hope that eventually the supreme commander-in-chief will realize this and, to applause from the progressive part of society, eliminate unnecessary institutions; all deputies will be mobilized and march to the front,” Korchynskyi said.
Earlier, the Bratstvo leader called those who want elections in Ukraine “vatniks” and called for mass repression before voting.
Korchynskyi also said that he was eagerly awaiting the shootings of Ukrainians who oppose mobilization.
