Подготовка к затяжному сценарию. Европа не знает, как закончить войну в Украине - NYT
25.04.2026 - 17:04Only about 10% of respondents in Ukraine answer pollsters’ questions, which calls into question the accuracy of survey results.
This was written by political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko, commenting on data from one of the SOCIS studies.
The methodology stated that the response rate was 10.05% — that is, out of about 10,000 people contacted, only around 1,000 agreed to answer, while about 90% refused.
Such a situation, he notes, “significantly weakens the validity of the data” and confirms a systemic problem for all polling companies.
“Sociologists themselves call this phenomenon the ‘spiral of silence’ — when people hide their views if they believe them to be unpopular. In our case, such concealment of one’s views manifests simply in refusing to participate in sociological surveys,” Fesenko noted.
Earlier, Strana also wrote that sociological research data during wartime should be treated with a considerable degree of skepticism, since people, given the circumstances, are far from always ready to openly express their real views to pollsters. This is especially true on controversial political issues, such as the acceptability of certain terms for ending the war.
