The lawmaker himself, a member of the ruling Servant of the People party, has been actively advocating stricter mobilization measures.
According to media reports, Venislavskyi’s elder son received an exemption from mobilization through the Foreign Ministry. Since February 2022, he has bought three cars and an apartment in Kharkiv.
The younger son, Andrii, lives in the United States and is building a career in Hollywood under the pseudonym Andrew Vilange. It is noted that he originally studied at a university in Kyiv. As soon as he reached draft age, he left for the U.S. Andrii earned a bachelor’s degree in directing from the Los Angeles Film School, where tuition costs about $10,000 per semester, or around $100,000 for the full course of study.
Since February 2022, general mobilization has been declared in Ukraine and repeatedly extended. The authorities’ approach to carrying it out has already led to numerous scandals and sharpened tensions in society.
While military enlistment office employees often use force against civilians, and even people unfit for service for health reasons are being drafted, lawmakers and officials are avoiding mobilization themselves and sending their draft-age sons abroad.
