10.07.2024 - 13:07Polish President Andrzej Duda stated that Ukraine cannot become a member until the war with Russia ends.
The Polish politician made this announcement in an interview with The Washington Times.
Andrzej Duda expressed his readiness to “go further than other Alliance states in promoting a full, official invitation” for Ukraine to join the bloc. However, the rest of the NATO members are only offering a “bridge” to possible membership.
According to the newspaper, leaders of other NATO countries, including U.S. President Joe Biden, do not plan to agree on specific timelines for Ukraine’s admission to the North Atlantic Alliance at the Washington summit.
Earlier, CNN reported that the draft communiqué of the NATO summit included wording on the “irreversibility” of Ukraine’s entry into the Alliance.
