Ukrainian journalist Taras Serednyich has revealed corruption within the Zakarpattia Customs and the first dismissal among those involved in smuggling schemes.<\/h3>\n

At the Zakarpattia Customs, Vadym Izhievsky, the head of the customs clearance department at the “Tisa” customs post, has been dismissed due to his involvement in smuggling schemes in Zakarpattia.<\/p>\n

Journalist Taras Serednyich reported this in his Telegram channel, citing his own sources.<\/a><\/p>\n

“The recent situation involving the discovery of ‘smuggled’ iPhones and Apple devices worth $1.7 million USD that crossed the customs border within the Zakarpattia Customs jurisdiction clearly demonstrated society’s strong negative reaction to any corrupt actions by Ukrainian customs officials. The information we have obtained clearly indicates that almost the entire batch of these gadgets, worth $1.7 million USD, entered Ukraine in parts through the ‘Tisa’ customs post of the Zakarpattia Customs, which is under the full management control of the head of the Zakarpattia Customs, Semirgi A.I., and his deputies, Koziuberda V.V. and Mohylnyi I.Y. In addition to this, it is also added that for a considerable period, a scheme has been operating at this checkpoint, allowing the import of crushed batches of equipment and clothing without payment of customs duties by entering false information into the databases,” the statement said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All minibuses carrying valuable goods were allowed into the customs territory of Ukraine without undergoing the necessary forms of inspection.<\/p>\n

According to the journalist’s sources, these four minibuses systematically transport goods across the border without undergoing actual customs control and without paying customs duties.
