Октябрь 24, 2025Russia sees no significant obstacles to agreeing on the framework for a Ukrainian settlement that was previously discussed by the presidents of Russia and the United States.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova during a briefing.
According to her, Moscow has taken note of the recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump on October 22during his conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, including the much-discussed mention of the cancellation of the originally proposed Russia–U.S. summit.
Zakharova emphasized that Russia expects relevant comments to be issued by the Kremlin’s press service. She added that the Russian Foreign Ministry remains open to continuing contacts with the U.S. State Department in order to implement the agreements reached during the October 16 phone call between the presidents of Russia and the United States.
On October 21, NBC News journalist Garrett Haake, citing a senior White House official, reported that preparations for the planned U.S.–Russia presidential summit in Budapest have been put on hold. According to the American official, the phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was productive, but President Trump believes the sides are not yet ready for negotiations “to move forward.”
Later, Trump announced that he had canceled the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, saying he believed the summit would not achieve the desired results.
Earlier, members of the Russian State Duma called on citizens to “pray for Trump and for peace.”
