Ukraine prepares changes to electricity tariffs from October
09.09.2026 08:31According to an assessment by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, Russia has sufficient resources to continue its war against Ukraine through 2027–2028.
This was stated by GUR chief Oleh Ivashchenko in an interview with Ukrinform.
“At the same time, it still has enough resources to wage war against Ukraine. We do not rule out that these resources will last through 2027 and 2028,” Ivashchenko said.
According to the GUR chief, exhausting these resources will require joint work with Ukraine’s partners. He identified sanctions pressure as the key instrument.
“Sanctions must actually work. We know which countries are supplying electronic components, machine tools, and specialty chemicals to the Russian Federation. Many intermediary companies are emerging that bring into Russia what then serves its war machine against us,” Ivashchenko noted.
In addition, the GUR chief commented on public sentiment inside Russia. In his assessment, Russian discontent with the war will grow, but whether a sufficiently powerful protest potential will take shape is difficult to say.
