Turkey has outlined two scenarios for ending the conflict in Ukraine
August 28, 2024The United States does not plan to change its position on long-range strikes deep into Russian territory, partly because Russia has withdrawn 90% of its aircraft from threatened areas.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to U.S. intelligence assessments, after Kyiv was supplied with ATACMS missiles, Russia moved most of its aircraft beyond the range of these missiles, a source told the newspaper.
This means that launching ATACMS “will have minimal impact,” and Ukrainian drones may have a greater effect.
Additionally, the U.S. official reminded that the stockpile of such missiles in the U.S. is limited.
President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Western partners remain silent on Ukraine’s requests for permission to strike Russia.
Earlier, Politico reported on a plan with targets for long-range strikes on Russian territory that would be brought to Washington by the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
