Kremlin spokesperson Peskov stated readiness to implement agreements on prisoner exchange
09.06.2025 12:33The Russian army’s offensive in the Dnipropetrovsk region is being conducted, among other reasons, to create the buffer zone promised by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov during a press briefing.
“Yes, among other things, certainly,” Peskov said in response to a question on the matter.
This implies that, according to this logic, Russia aims to fully seize the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, while targeting only the front-line areas of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
It is worth noting that the creation of a buffer zone is currently being cited by Russia as one of its key objectives in the Sumy region as well.
Over the weekend, Russia claimed that its forces had entered Dnipropetrovsk region. Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported progress in that area. However, Ukraine has denied these claims. According to the Ukrainian side, the enemy “has not abandoned its intentions to enter Dnipropetrovsk region,” but the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are holding their positions and disrupting Russia’s plans.
