September 24, 2024For several weeks now, Russia has been supplying its crude oil directly to European ports in violation of EU sanctions.
Greek shipping companies’ vessels, some of which are believed to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet,” are being used to transport the black gold. This means that Greece is helping Russia circumvent sanctions.
Since July 2024, journalists have identified about 15 tankers that headed directly to European ports from the Russian Baltic Sea ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, as well as from Novorossiysk in the Black Sea.
The ships’ drafts showed that the tankers left Russian oil ports fully loaded, and upon arrival at their destination ports, their drafts decreased by several meters. Each of these tankers, approximately 250 meters long, can carry over 150 million liters of crude oil.
Earlier, media reported that Russia is increasing oil and gas supplies to China through the “Power of Siberia” pipeline to its maximum capacity.
