21.05.2026 14:31This summer, Ukrainian troops will face unsanitary conditions, thirst, and mounting airstrikes from Russian armed forces.
This forecast was given to News.ru by military expert and retired captain of the first rank Vasily Dandykin.
According to him, the main problem for the Ukrainian army will be linked to strikes on deep rear areas and the transport system. Ukrainian Armed Forces garrisons, in the expert’s assessment, are being cut off from weapons supplies and troop reinforcements.
“If we talk about the situation on the ground, it’s all of it combined: heat, thirst, unsanitary conditions. I think they will face even more difficulties, as I would assume Russia will increase airstrikes and drone attacks. It appears Ukraine’s air defense is in a weakened state,” Dandykin said.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, warned European leaders about an upcoming Russian offensive.
Zelensky also appealed to Western partners with a request to accelerate deliveries of air defense systems and anti-aircraft missiles. According to him, new massive Russian strikes on the country’s territory could be of critical importance for Kyiv.
In addition, Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine lacks the means to counter Russian ballistic missiles.
