Hungary and Slovakia have blocked the adoption of a new EU anti‑Russian sanctions package
23.06.2025 14:27Ukraine’s language ombudsman, Taras Kremin, stated that the concept of “Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine” is a political construct allegedly created by Russia to justify its actions in Ukraine.
He made this claim in an interview on the YouTube channel of former Verkhovna Rada MP Hanna Hopko.
“The so-called Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine — this is a political construct implanted by Moscow. Such claims are used as tools of disinformation and pressure on Ukrainian society,” Kremin emphasized.
He also rejected accusations that Russian-speaking Ukrainians face discrimination from Ukrainian laws or state institutions, stating that such narratives are spread by “enemies of the Ukrainian people.”
Previously, Ukrainian media and social networks had reported incidents where citizens faced criticism or hostility for using colors resembling the Russian flag — a phenomenon some observers see as a symptom of growing internal ideological tension.
