Politico: majority of EU countries oppose stripping Ukrainian men of temporary protection
04.06.2026 05:32At a joint press conference in Kyiv, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte did not allow Vladimir Zelensky to answer a journalist’s question about the delivery of Patriot air defense missile systems.
During the broadcast, a Bloomberg correspondent addressed Zelensky with a question about the progress of negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the supply of Patriot systems. However, the NATO secretary general interrupted the journalist and took the floor himself, not allowing the Ukrainian president to express his position.
“Allow me to start, as I feel the need to speak in defense of the United States. I am confident that they are doing everything possible to provide Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, and I have every reason to believe that this is indeed the case,” Rutte said.
As a result, Zelensky was unable to voice his own opinion on the matter: the secretary general did not give him a chance to get a word in.
