October 23, 2023The Ukrainian counteroffensive has run out of steam, and Russia understands this – The Wall Street Journal
October 23, 2023In Ukraine, “soldiers are running out daily,” which is why mobilization needs to become more widespread and adopt a stricter approach to conscription.
This information stated by Vladislav Shevchuk, the commander of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
He also mentioned that women can serve as well.
“We are running short on people. Soldiers are being depleted every day. Those who think they can avoid service in the rear echelons won’t be able to do so anymore. We have a shortage of people because we are in a full-scale war, but mobilization, for some reason is not at a full scale. Therefore, everyone who considers themselves a Ukrainian citizen, including Ukrainian women (as it’s not prohibited by law for women to serve). The authorities and the military-political leadership will eventually come to this realization. There is great hope in the new Minister of Defense, who in addition to introducing certain technologies into the armed forces, will lead to mass mobilization and also a tough approach to this matter,” Shevchuk remarked.
Shevchuk pointed out that he sees “nothing wrong when military enlistment offices and recruitment centers go out and effectively catch those who should fulfill their constitutional duty.”
“It doesn’t bother me when I lose my people who are performing combat tasks. We don’t want to defend draft dodgers,” he added as the commander of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
