“Repression has turned into a conflict between Ukrainians and Zelensky,” – MP Dmytruk said
10.11.2025 - 06:02Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will not agree to using frozen Russian assets to issue a reparations loan to Ukraine.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
In Fico’s view, issuing such a €140 billion loan would mean prolonging the war.
“Slovakia will not participate in any legal or financial schemes to seize frozen assets if those funds are to be spent on military expenses in Ukraine. Do we want to end the war, or are we stoking it? Are we going to give Ukraine €140 billion so the war continues? What does that mean? That the war will last at least two more years,” the Slovak premier said.
Earlier, the European Commission drew up a plan that would allow EU governments to use up to €185 billion to support Ukraine—most of Russia’s sovereign assets currently frozen in Europe—without supposedly confiscating them, in the form of a so-called “reparations loan,” which would be repaid if Russia pays reparations to Kyiv.
As a reminder, Belgium is also opposed to issuing the reparations loan.
