November 29, 2023Slovakia will extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products indefinitely and expand the list of goods from 4 to 14 positions.
This information reported according to local media reports.
Alongside wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds, the import of which was prohibited back in September, the new ban will also cover honey, sugar, malt, soybeans, wheat flour, cane, and beet sugar.
Bratislava will also tighten transit rules for these products. In addition, the national emergency commission of Moldova introduced restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine at the beginning of October. Their import will now require licensing.
Recall that in September, Ukraine filed lawsuits with the WTO against Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia due to these countries’ bans on the import of Ukrainian grain. Following this, the European Commission decided to represent Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia in the grain dispute at the World Trade Organization.
