Starlink for Ukraine’s armed forces and missile launch warnings still not restored

Starlink connectivity from SpaceX for Ukrainian military personnel is still not operating at full speeds, and the United States has still not been warning Ukraine about Russian ballistic missile launches.

This follows from a post by Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky reported a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the two sides discussed both issues. According to the president, Ukraine’s access to the American military satellite system Starshield and to Starlink communications “needs to be restored.”

“I spoke with Marco Rubio, and it was substantive — on the issues that matter. I am grateful for the willingness to help and for the clear position. First — interceptors against ballistic missiles, necessary to protect lives. Second — early warning of Russian ballistic attacks, which is vitally important. Third — the situation around Starlink/Starshield, which needs to be restored… We agreed to be in contact again soon for an update,” Zelensky wrote.

The day before, Rubio had sharply denied Zelensky’s claim that the White House was involved in slowing down the Starlink satellite system for Ukrainian military personnel.

Western media reported at the same time that it was Elon Musk who proposed restricting Starlink’s operation in Ukraine to U.S. President Donald Trump.
