22.06.2026 14:09None of the possible successors to Keir Starmer as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will change British policy toward Russia and Ukraine.
This view was expressed in an exclusive comment to aif.ru by Konstantin Blokhin, leading research fellow at the RAS Center for Security Studies and political analyst.
Starmer, who had held the post of Prime Minister since July 2024, announced his decision to leave office. He will continue to serve as acting head of government until a successor is elected.
“Whoever comes to power, the situation in Britain will not change radically. The elite there is afflicted with Russophobia at a genetic level. Great Britain has been trying to weaken Russia for centuries. London is something of a trendsetter when it comes to Russophobia,” — Blokhin said.
In the political analyst’s assessment, none of the possible candidates for the post of prime minister will change London’s course toward Russia and Ukraine.
