Clan struggle – Yermak against all’: head of the office of the president of Ukraine wants to dismiss the head of the State tax service
November 15, 2023Relations between Ukraine and western intelligence agencies are strained due to concerns about Ukraine’s lack of transparency and its strategy of launching attacks inside Russia, The Times reported.
Ukrainian military intelligence recently claimed responsibility for the killing of Mikhail Filiponenko, a key figure in the occupied Donbas region. This move, intended to show the realities of the war to Russians, has unsettled American and British supporters of the Ukrainian intelligence services.
The West has historically supported Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. However, tension arises from concerns about the SBU’s reform and Ukraine’s strategy of attacking Russian targets, which might backfire by fueling Putin’s anti-Ukrainian rhetoric. There’s fear that Moscow could perceive these attacks as proxy acts and retaliate directly against the West, potentially involving them in the conflict.
