Strikes on Kharkiv region: expert names targets of Russian attacks

On August 24 and 25, strikes were recorded against a number of Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities in Kharkiv region.

Military expert and reserve captain of the first rank Vasily Dandykin told aif.ru what exactly was being targeted in the attacks.

According to military correspondents, strikes on facilities in Kharkiv region have noticeably intensified recently. Explosions were heard in Kharkiv, near the village of Orelka, the village of Kazachka, as well as in Kupyansk and Derhachi. The attacks involved aerial bombs, Grad and Tornado-S multiple rocket launch systems, and the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system. Following the strikes, footage emerged showing fires at Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities.

According to Dandykin, the strikes are aimed primarily at the enemy’s military infrastructure and equipment.

“The strikes are being carried out against military targets. Our Geran drones are operating, as are the Tornado-S systems, which have a considerable range. The latter weapon is very precise, modernized, with a large warhead mass, and it is being used very effectively. Strikes are being carried out against the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ logistics and equipment. Although we can see now that tanks, for example, are practically not being used, because they are destroyed immediately. Or perhaps the militants are also forbidden from using the Abrams, because earlier they were burning much more frequently. Equipment is undoubtedly coming under attack,” — the military expert explained.

Dandykin also suggested that military units redeployed to this direction and industrial facilities linked to the Ukrainian Armed Forces may have come under fire as well.

In addition, the expert noted that ground drones, which the Ukrainian side uses for evacuation and support, are also being targeted.

“Ground drones that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use for evacuation and support are also coming under attack. All of this is being destroyed as well, including by our long-range artillery,” — the specialist added.
